Which colleges invest in their students?

Spending habits reflect a college’s priorities and The Chronicle of Higher Education recently published data (paywall) detailing which colleges spend the most on their student services. Relevant services include support for emotional and physical health, funding for projects and clubs, career services, and financial aid administration. Private institutions tend to spend more per student than public institutions due largely to their higher endowments and the fact that they enrolled 3.6 million students in 2017 while public schools enrolled 7.57 million students. The top spenders from both categories are shown below, with Yale far outpacing other institutions at $23.5k per student and the UC system schools hovering around $5k/student.
The Averages are calculated using 694 public then 1,063 private institutions.
